Terms of Use
Effective Date: May 12, 2026 · Last Updated: October 12, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of SoloSnap, including the SoloSnap macOS application, related features, updates, downloads, documentation, support services, web tools, and related website pages operated for SoloSnap.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using SoloSnap, you agree to these Terms. Please review them before using SoloSnap; if you do not agree, you should not download, install, access, or use it.
1. Who We Are
SoloSnap is a free macOS screenshot, screen recording, media conversion, archiving, and utility application created and maintained as an independent software project.
For purposes of these Terms, "SoloSnap," "we," "our," or "us" means Justin Clemens, doing business as SoloSnap, the individual developer who creates and maintains SoloSnap.
For all questions about SoloSnap, reach the team through our support page:
Contact SoloSnap Support2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use SoloSnap. If you're under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use SoloSnap only with permission from a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. By using SoloSnap, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
If you use SoloSnap on behalf of a company, organization, school, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on behalf of that entity. In that case, "you" and "your" refer to both you and that entity.
3. Permission to Use SoloSnap
SoloSnap is provided to you free of charge. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you may download, install, and use SoloSnap on macOS devices that you own or control for personal, professional, educational, creative, or internal business purposes.
Your permission to use SoloSnap is personal to you and is not transferable. Using SoloSnap does not give you ownership of SoloSnap or its related materials. Ownership is described in Section 16.
4. Permitted Use
You may use SoloSnap for lawful personal, professional, educational, creative, or internal business purposes, including:
- Taking screenshots;
- Recording your screen;
- Recording application audio where supported;
- Recording microphone input where enabled;
- Using camera recording features;
- Converting supported media formats;
- Creating, opening, extracting, or managing supported archives;
- Managing media files created, imported, or selected by you; and
- Using SecureDrop, Support Live Chat, and other website features as provided.
You are responsible for how you use SoloSnap and for ensuring that your use complies with all applicable laws, workplace policies, school policies, platform rules, service terms, and third-party rights.
5. Accounts
You don't currently need an account to download or use the SoloSnap Mac app, including MobilityCore, AppCore, and CameraCore. Some future features may require an account; if so, we'll tell you before you use them. A free SoloSnap account is required for:
- Web Tools;
- Signed-in support, such as seeing all of your support tickets in one place or typing your own questions to Frame AI (guests can choose from suggested questions after verifying their email);
- Private support appointments; and
- Signing in to the SoloSnap Mac app.
Setting up your account. To create an account, you give us your full name, email address, and a password, and we assign you a username. Your account becomes active once you've verified your email address and set up two-step sign-in with an authenticator app.
Your responsibilities. You agree to:
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date;
- Keep your password, authenticator app, and backup codes secure, and not share them with anyone;
- Tell us promptly through the Contact page on our website if you think someone has accessed your account without permission; and
- Use your account only for yourself. Accounts are personal and can't be transferred.
You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
Suspension and closure. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or creates a risk to SoloSnap, its users, or others. If we do, we'll email the address on the account and include a reason when we can. If you think we made a mistake, contact us through our website and we'll take another look.
Deleting your account. You can request deletion from your account dashboard. We review each request and confirm by email before anything is removed. We may keep limited information where it's needed for security, to prevent abuse, or to meet legal obligations, as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Recording, Screenshots, Audio, Camera, and Consent
SoloSnap provides tools that may allow you to capture screen content, application audio, microphone audio, camera input, windows, displays, selected regions, or other content visible, audible, or accessible on your device.
You are responsible for obtaining any required consent before recording, capturing, storing, sharing, publishing, or otherwise using content involving other people, private communications, protected material, confidential information, third-party content, or restricted systems.
Laws regarding recording, wiretapping, consent, workplace monitoring, school monitoring, privacy, publicity rights, and confidential information vary by jurisdiction and context. SoloSnap does not determine whether your use is lawful. You are responsible for understanding and following the laws, contracts, policies, and rules that apply to you.
7. Your Content
"Your Content" means screenshots, recordings, videos, audio files, archives, converted files, images, documents, messages, or other content that you create, import, process, send, upload, or manage using SoloSnap.
You retain ownership of Your Content. These Terms do not give us ownership of Your Content.
When you submit content through our website or support channels, such as comments, messages, support tickets, or files, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to host, store, copy, display, and process that content only as needed to operate SoloSnap's services, provide support, keep the services secure, and meet legal obligations. We won't sell your content or use it for advertising. This permission doesn't apply to files that stay on your Mac. It ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except for copies we keep as described in our Privacy Policy.
Comments you post on the SoloSnap blog are public. We may hold comments for review, decline to publish them, or remove them, for example if they break these Terms, are spam, or are off-topic.
You are responsible for Your Content, including its legality, accuracy, permissions, storage, backup, sharing, publication, retention, deletion, and use.
We are not responsible for lost, deleted, corrupted, overwritten, misdirected, incomplete, inaccessible, or improperly saved files, except to the extent liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
8. Local Processing and File Responsibility
SoloSnap is designed primarily as a local macOS application. Many operations may occur on your device, including recording, screenshot capture, saving, conversion, archiving, extraction, file management, and related processing.
You are responsible for maintaining adequate storage, backups, file permissions, save locations, device security, operating system settings, and access controls.
You should verify important recordings, screenshots, archives, extracted files, converted files, and saved outputs before deleting originals or relying on the output.
SoloSnap does not guarantee that every recording, capture, conversion, archive, extraction, export, import, or save operation will complete successfully in every environment.
9. Third-Party Tools, Formats, and Services
SoloSnap may interact with or rely on third-party technologies, operating system features, file formats, virtual audio devices, system permissions, frameworks, libraries, or services.
Examples may include macOS system frameworks, system privacy permissions, audio routing tools, media formats, archive formats, codecs, websites, cloud services, or optional third-party components.
Third-party tools, services, devices, websites, formats, and components are controlled by their respective owners. We are not responsible for their availability, behavior, updates, compatibility, security, legality, or support.
Your use of third-party tools, services, or components may be subject to their own separate terms or privacy policies.
10. macOS Permissions
SoloSnap may require macOS permissions to perform certain functions, including screen recording, microphone access, camera access, file access, accessibility access, notifications, automation permissions, or other system permissions.
Some features may not work unless the required permissions are granted in macOS System Settings.
You are responsible for managing these permissions. SoloSnap is not responsible for limitations caused by denied permissions, changed system settings, operating system updates, device restrictions, security software, enterprise management tools, parental controls, or third-party utilities.
11. Updates and Changes to SoloSnap
We may update, modify, improve, remove, rename, redesign, suspend, or discontinue features of SoloSnap at any time.
Updates may include bug fixes, security improvements, compatibility changes, feature changes, user interface changes, format support changes, or performance improvements.
We are not obligated to provide any particular feature, update, support period, compatibility level, or continued availability unless we separately agree in writing or applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Beta, Experimental, or Preview Features
SoloSnap may include beta, preview, experimental, early access, or pre-release features.
These features may be incomplete, unstable, inaccurate, changed, removed, or unavailable at any time. You should not rely on beta or experimental features for critical work without maintaining backups and alternative workflows.
Beta, preview, experimental, early access, and pre-release features are provided for evaluation and testing and may be subject to additional terms.
13. Free Software, Tips, and Memberships
SoloSnap is free. You don't need to pay anything to download it, use any of its features, or get support.
SoloSnap is supported by voluntary tips and memberships. Contributing is entirely optional. It is never needed for any feature, update, or support request, and choosing not to contribute will not change the service or support you receive.
A tip is a voluntary contribution rather than payment for a product, feature, service, or support. It does not create additional obligations for SoloSnap or provide special benefits in return.
Tips are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible.
Tips are processed by the third-party payment service you choose, under that service's own terms and privacy policy. We don't receive your card or bank details.
Memberships. SoloSnap also offers optional monthly memberships through Ko-fi. A membership is a voluntary recurring contribution that supports the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of SoloSnap. Membership is entirely optional: choosing to subscribe or not subscribe has no impact on the services, features, or functionality SoloSnap provides.
Our permanent commitment. This commitment is permanent: membership status will never affect access to SoloSnap's existing services or reduce or restrict functionality for non-members. Membership does not unlock additional features, remove software restrictions, provide access to exclusive versions of the software, or include priority support, expedited response times, or personalized technical assistance — all users have access to the same support channels under the same standard support policies.
Billing and cancellation. Membership fees are charged automatically at the amount and billing frequency displayed during registration. You may cancel your membership at any time through Ko-fi; cancellation prevents future recurring charges in accordance with Ko-fi's billing procedures. Canceling stops future renewals but does not reverse a charge already submitted.
Voluntary contributions. Membership payments support the SoloSnap project but do not grant ownership, equity, decision-making authority, or control over its development. They also do not promise a particular feature, software update, release schedule, or future improvement. The SoloSnap developer continues to decide development priorities, technical direction, and release timing.
Final transactions. Ko-fi payments are generally final and non-refundable. This includes every one-time tip, each ordinary membership renewal, and every correctly submitted membership charge. Canceling a membership affects future renewals only and does not reverse a valid charge already submitted.
Limited Exceptions. If SoloSnap verifies that an accidental duplicate membership charge occurred, the duplicate portion may be refunded. This limited exception applies exclusively to an accidental duplicate membership charge. No one-time tip, ordinary membership renewal, correctly submitted membership charge, or other charge, payment, or transaction is eligible for an exception, refund, or reimbursement under this provision. Nothing in this provision limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
We may change how SoloSnap is distributed or stop offering it. We may also offer optional paid features or services in the future. If we do, their price and terms will be shown clearly before you decide, and you'll never be charged without choosing to pay.
14. Extensions, Add-Ons, and Optional Features
SoloSnap may offer extensions, add-ons, optional components, or additional feature packs.
Extensions and optional features may be subject to separate terms, technical limitations, compatibility requirements, pricing, update schedules, or support policies.
We may limit, disable, remove, or change extensions or optional features for security, compatibility, legal, performance, operational, or product reasons.
15. Acceptable Use
You agree to use SoloSnap responsibly and lawfully. You agree not to:
Respect other people
- Record, capture, or share people, private communications, or private or confidential information without the consent or permission the law requires;
- Use SoloSnap for unlawful surveillance, monitoring, harassment, stalking, fraud, or abuse;
- Infringe copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, privacy or publicity rights, or other rights;
- Create or share deceptive, harmful, abusive, or illegal content;
Respect SoloSnap
- Copy, modify, redistribute, sell, resell, rent, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from SoloSnap, except as these Terms allow;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble SoloSnap, or try to derive its source code, except where applicable law allows it;
- Remove or change any copyright, trademark, or other ownership notices;
- Use the SoloSnap name, logo, branding, app design, or website content for your own product, service, website, or marketing without our written permission;
Keep things secure and legal
- Bypass digital rights management, access controls, security measures, or usage limits, whether in SoloSnap or anything else;
- Upload malware, file types we don't accept, or anything meant to disrupt or compromise SoloSnap or another person;
- Interfere with SoloSnap's normal operation or with another person's privacy, security, or property;
- Break workplace, school, platform, service, or account rules that apply to you;
- Violate export control, sanctions, anti-corruption, or any other applicable law; or
- Help or encourage anyone else to do any of these things.
16. Intellectual Property and Ownership
SoloSnap — including the SoloSnap app, its source code, object code, design, user interface, logo, name, branding, text, graphics, documentation, website content, protected expressive elements, structure, organization, workflows, and related materials — is owned by SoloSnap or its creator, except for any third-party materials that are separately identified.
SoloSnap and its related materials are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your use of SoloSnap grants you permission to use the app as provided; it does not transfer ownership of any of the materials listed above or any related intellectual property rights to you.
The rules on copying, modifying, reverse engineering, and using SoloSnap's name, branding, and materials are listed in Section 15. Any use not allowed by these Terms or by applicable law requires written permission from SoloSnap.
SoloSnap may include, use, or reference third-party tools, frameworks, system features, libraries, services, or other materials. Those remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to their own terms, licenses, or notices. Nothing in these Terms is intended to claim ownership over third-party materials, open-source components, Apple system features, macOS functionality, public standards, general ideas, procedures, processes, systems, methods of operation, concepts, or functionality that are not protectable by copyright or that belong to others.
All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by SoloSnap and its creator.
17. Feedback
If you submit feedback, suggestions, bug reports, ideas, feature requests, or other comments about SoloSnap, you give us permission to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, perform, commercialize, and otherwise make use of that feedback for any purpose, on a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and transferable basis, without restriction or compensation to you.
We are not obligated to implement, credit, pay for, or keep confidential any feedback you provide unless we separately agree in writing.
18. Vulnerability Disclosure Program
SoloSnap is an independent software project created and maintained by an individual developer, as described in Section 1. We welcome responsible reports about security vulnerabilities affecting SoloSnap or this website.
To submit a vulnerability report, please use our official Vulnerability Disclosure Program form. Reports shared through other channels — such as the general contact form, email, or other website channels — may not reach the right place and could be missed, so we kindly ask that you use the dedicated form whenever possible.
SoloSnap does not offer financial compensation, bounties, or rewards for vulnerability reports. Reports are welcomed and reviewed, but they do not qualify for payment or other compensation.
This program doesn't include access to SoloSnap's source code, object code, or internal systems.
19. Support
SoloSnap is free software provided by an individual developer. Support may be limited.
We may provide support through our support page, documentation, release notes, or other channels, but support availability, response times, updates, bug fixes, compatibility updates, and continued maintenance are not guaranteed.
We may decline support requests that involve unsupported systems, modified copies of SoloSnap, third-party conflicts, unlawful use, abusive conduct, or requests outside the intended scope of the app.
SecureDrop. SecureDrop is a temporary, approval-based support file-transfer service tied to an existing support ticket or vulnerability report. Access requires the matching ticket or report details and an approved link or code. Access may expire or be revoked and is not permanent file storage. Expiration or revocation stops further access but does not delete files already submitted to the related support record. You may upload only lawful files that you have the right to share.
Support Live Chat. Support Live Chat is a verified conversation with SoloSnap Support. Email verification is required before entry. Availability and response times are not guaranteed, and a message submitted while support is offline becomes a support ticket rather than entering the live waiting line. You are responsible for messages and attachments you submit. If you request a transcript through the choices offered when a chat ends, it is sent to your verified email address.
Frame AI. Frame AI, the help assistant on our website, provides general product information. Its answers may be incomplete or inaccurate and are not professional, legal, or security advice. Usage limits apply, and it may be unavailable at times.
Private support appointments. For some support tickets, we may invite you to book a private one-on-one support session. Booking requires a signed-in SoloSnap account that matches the invitation and an open support ticket. Times are limited and may be rescheduled or cancelled. Files you share during a session are reviewed before they're accepted. You're responsible for what you share.
Section 31 explains the conduct rules that apply across SoloSnap support channels and blog comments. The Privacy Policy explains how information you submit through these services is handled.
20. Privacy
Your use of SoloSnap may also be governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, stored, disclosed, and protected.
You should review the SoloSnap Privacy Policy before using SoloSnap.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy regarding personal information, the Privacy Policy controls with respect to that personal information.
21. Disclaimers
SoloSnap is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, performance, compatibility, and error-free operation.
We do not guarantee that SoloSnap will:
- Meet your specific requirements;
- Operate without interruption;
- Be free from bugs, defects, crashes, vulnerabilities, or errors;
- Capture, record, convert, archive, extract, import, export, or save every file successfully;
- Remain compatible with every macOS version, device, permission setting, third-party app, virtual audio device, codec, file format, storage location, or workflow;
- Preserve or recover any data, file, recording, screenshot, archive, or converted output; or
- Prevent data loss, file corruption, user error, hardware failure, software conflict, security incident, or third-party interference.
Please use SoloSnap with appropriate care and keep backups of important files; use remains at your own risk.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above disclaimers may not apply to you.
22. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SoloSnap, its individual developer, contributors, service providers, and representatives will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, files, recordings, screenshots, business opportunities, goodwill, reputation, productivity, or business interruption, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, statute, strict liability, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of SoloSnap, its individual developer, contributors, service providers, and representatives for any claim arising out of or relating to SoloSnap or these Terms will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, fraud, or statutory rights that cannot be waived.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
23. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SoloSnap, its individual developer, contributors, service providers, and representatives from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to:
- Your use or misuse of SoloSnap;
- Your Content;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any law, regulation, contract, policy, or third-party right;
- Your recording, capture, storage, sharing, publication, conversion, extraction, archiving, or distribution of content;
- Your use of third-party tools, services, devices, formats, or workflows with SoloSnap; or
- Your failure to obtain required permissions, consents, or rights.
We reserve the right to control the defense of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.
24. Export Compliance and Sanctions
You may not use, export, re-export, import, sell, release, or transfer SoloSnap except as authorized by applicable law.
You represent and warrant that:
- You are not located in a country or region subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country;
- You are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and
- You will not use SoloSnap for any purpose prohibited by applicable export control or sanctions laws.
25. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Before filing a claim, please contact us through the Contact page on our website, describe the issue and what you're asking for, and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. We'll do the same before bringing a claim against you, using the email address you've given us. This doesn't stop either of us from asking a court for urgent relief to stop ongoing harm.
If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or SoloSnap will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Mobile County, Alabama, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Nothing in this section limits any consumer rights or mandatory protections that cannot be waived under applicable law.
26. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above.
If we make a material change, we'll give reasonable notice before it takes effect, for example by emailing account holders or posting a notice on our website. Other updates, such as clarifications or corrections, take effect when posted unless a later date is stated.
Your continued use of SoloSnap after updated Terms become effective means you accept them. If you do not agree to an update, you should stop using SoloSnap when that update takes effect.
27. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect.
If possible, the invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, lawful, and enforceable.
28. No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce that part or any other part later.
Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us to be effective.
29. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, in connection with a transfer of the SoloSnap project, change of ownership, merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, operation of law, or similar transaction.
30. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any applicable Privacy Policy and any written agreements between you and us, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding SoloSnap and supersede all prior or contemporaneous understandings regarding SoloSnap.
31. Support Access and Conduct
SoloSnap support (the contact form, the Vulnerability Disclosure Program, support tickets, SecureDrop, Support Live Chat, and private support appointments) is provided as a courtesy and may be modified or discontinued at any time.
When contacting support, you must provide accurate information about the issue and must not submit unlawful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, sexually explicit, or unauthorized content; spam, advertising, or malware; or another person’s private information. You may not impersonate SoloSnap staff or attempt to disrupt, scrape, interfere with, or overload our support channels.
Blog comments. To comment on the SoloSnap blog, you confirm your email address. The same conduct rules apply to comments. Daily limits apply, comments may be held for review or removed (see Section 7), and we may stop anyone who breaks these rules from commenting.
We may use an internal support record to recognize a person across these support channels. The information in that record, how it is matched, and how long it may be retained are described in Section 18 of the Privacy Policy.
SoloSnap administrators may temporarily suspend or permanently restrict support access to enforce these Terms or to keep support usable for everyone. We will email you if that happens, and we will include a reason when an administrator has supplied one. Restrictions apply to your support record, not to a particular device or network.
If a restriction was applied in error, or your circumstances have changed, an administrator may lift it and, where appropriate, release your email address so you can contact support again.
32. Contact
For questions, complaints, or claims about SoloSnap or these Terms, please get in touch through our support page. Every request goes through the same support workflow as everyone else's, so nothing falls through the cracks.
SoloSnap is operated by Justin Clemens, doing business as SoloSnap. You can reach us through the Contact page on our website.

You can stop using SoloSnap at any time by uninstalling the app. You can request deletion of your account as described in Section 5.
We may suspend or end your access to your account, support channels, blog comments, or other online services if you break these Terms, if your use creates a risk to SoloSnap, its users, or others, or if the law requires it. We'll email you if we suspend or close your account or restrict your support access, as described in Sections 5 and 31. We may also stop offering SoloSnap or any of its services, as described in Section 11.
If we end your access because you broke these Terms, your permission to use SoloSnap under Section 3 ends too.
Sections 7, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 33 continue to apply after your use of SoloSnap ends.
34. Copyright Complaints
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on our website, such as a blog comment, infringes your copyright, please submit a complaint using the copyright complaint form on our website.
Your complaint should include:
- Your name and contact information, including an email address;
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe is being infringed;
- Where the material appears on our website, such as the page link;
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- A statement that the information in your complaint is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you're the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner; and
- Your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full name is fine.
We review each complaint and may remove or disable access to the material. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can tell us through the same form and we'll review it. We may restrict anyone who repeatedly infringes others' rights. Knowingly submitting a false complaint may make you legally responsible for the harm it causes.
